Also known as Dokdo — «solitary island» in Korean and Takeshima — «Bamboo Island» in Japanese. In fact, this archipelago in the Sea of Japan, consisting of two main islands and 35 rocks.
The islands are permanently inhabited Korean catcher octopus and his wife. In the unstable situation there are Korean police, the administration, the staff of the lighthouse and the South Korean Coast Guard.
April 14, 2015 the head of the security forces of South Korea and Japan have met to discuss security issues together. Negotiations broke down when Japan reaffirmed its claim to Liancourt rocks. It is noteworthy that North Korea supports South Korea’s requirements, despite the fact that, technically, the two countries are still at war.
